It first started when Frances Schaefer and her family started to sell a few Easter plants in front of her hardware store in Lyndhurst, NJ as a family fund...and later grew into a non-profit educational fund.
The Easter Flower Fund sales ended in 1984. At the time, it served as an non-profit educational fund where students applied for low-interest loans to help support their post-secondary education.
Here is a picture of my father, Sandy Haver, a true Madison Avenue advertising man who loved to engage and sell Easter Flowers. Sandy, along with his brother Thomas Haver, started selling these plants since they were young boys in front of thier Aunt's hardware store.
Family and Friends volunteered their time to support this Educational Foundation.
